Jan De Nul is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to join our innovation team from the department of Project Development and Conceptual Design. As a Project Engineer in Development and Conceptual Design, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our engineering projects and contribute to continuous growth towards sustainable goals.

Typical innovation projects pair biodiversity enhancement and marine habitat restoration with coastal protection techniques and offshore renewable energy infrastructure. Jan De Nul is a pioneer in developing nature-based solutions and nature-inclusive designs for coastal management and offshore infrastructure and dredging works.

YOUR TASKS

Most of your time will be spent on Innovation projects in the field of coastal & offshore engineering, offshore renewable energy and nature-based solutions, through:

  • Follow-up and implementation of innovation projects;
  • Assistance in acquisition of new innovation projects;
  • Collaborating in the development and conceptual design of (innovation) projects with external partners;
  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Modelling Engineers, our Marine Environmental Department, Dredging and Offshore department, Production Department and Area Management;
  • Assisting during initial project development, feasibility, tender and design phases of engineering projects by using innovation results and creativity;
  • Assisting in communication and dissemination goals for our project results

Profile

  • You hold a Doctoral or Master degree with equivalent experience, in Civil or Mechanical or Naval Engineering or a related field. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment;
  • You have already conducted research (with proven experience) within at least one of the following fields: coastal engineering, offshore engineering, offshore renewables, maritime engineering, hydraulics, nature-based solutions, numerical or experimental modelling of wave – structure interaction;
  • You have participated in the support and implementation of innovation projects funded within the Horizon2020 and Horizon Europe frameworks, and other national or international funding schemes;
  • You have participated in the writing of proposals for funding acquisition for research and innovation projects;
  • You have experience in writing technical reports;
  • Publication(s) in (one of) the above fields is a plus;
  • You have excellent (or certified) knowledge of the English language. Knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus.
