Coastal Modelling Engineer
The worldwide dredging and offshore construction of Jan De Nul Group often take place in challenging and sensitive marine environments. For making project specific engineering studies Jan De Nul Group has a specialized in-house Coastal Modelling Department.
We are looking for an Experienced Coastal Modelling Engineer to work for the department in Aalst.
Your main tasks and responsibilities are:
- Giving advice for, setting up and following up terrain monitoring campaigns related to
- hydrodynamics,
- waves,
- water quality
- environmental impact, and
- morphology
in projects all over the world (with ad hoc short trips abroad).
- Thorough data processing, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
- Setting up, calibration and validation of;
- Hydrodynamic models
- Wave models
- Sedimentation models
- Turbidity models
- Morphologic models
- Water quality and flushing studies
- Reporting, presentation and communication to internal and external Clients
- Following up internal and external studies and measurement campaigns.
- Giving advice regarding dredging and offshore construction methods with due regard for their estimated impact on the environment.
Profile
You have a Master’s degree in engineering science or (exact) sciences or an equivalent. You have a profound knowledge of hydrodynamics, wave propagation, sediment dynamics, mud transport, turbidity plumes. You have knowledge of measurement methods and data processing regarding hydrodynamics, waves and water quality. Experience or strong interest in offshore construction works and dredging processes and their impact on the environment. You have strong presentation, reporting and communication skills. Programming experience (Fortran, C++, Matlab, etc.) are an advantage
