Mobilising preparatory works into an offshore constructed turbine: it gives you a kick!

“I've been working for two and a half years in the Offshore Renewables department of Jan De Nul. And I don't regret a minute of it. On the contrary! What makes this job so attractive, is its dual nature. Even as a new start, you get the opportunity to take care of the project preparation as well as the opportunity to manage the, often international, project in execution. For example, for the Northwester 2 Offshore wind farm, I am involved in the planning and managing part of the installation of the wind turbine foundations and the installation of wind turbine components. Once the execution gets started I am going on board our installation vessel Vole au vent.”

Once aboard, I will be responsible, among other things, for the roll-out of the installation methodology with the permanent operational team aboard, gathering feedback and, on this basis, seeking to continuously improve the installation method. If at the end of a project everything has run safely and efficiently, or, in other words, all the pieces of the puzzle fit together, it gives an enormous sense of satisfaction. This of course implies good cooperation and understanding with the client and subcontractors. And all of this takes place in an interesting international setting!"
