Project Assistant Surveyor

Jan De Nul Group has been focussing on specific offshore services for the oil, gas and renewable energy market for many years. These services can be divided as follows: intervention works at the sea bottom, rock installation and ballasting, installation of offshore wind parks, subsea cables and umbilical’s. For our sites in Taiwan, we are looking for a Surveyor Assistant.

Your tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Assistance:

    • Equipment & material sourcing
    • Local repairs / service companies, joining meetings
    • Data retrieval from government agencies
    • Assisting with data processing / charting / Administration
    • Joining Client survey meetings
  • Field work:
    • general survey assistant works
    • (joining) site visits & witnessing survey works conducted by subcontractors (land & marine)
    • Executing and or witnessing basic Hydrographic and/or topographic surveys using Single beam
    • Multibeam echo sounders, Total station, RTK rover, automatic level instrument. (skills can be learned)
    • If interested / skilled , performing & processing Drone surveys (skills can be learned)
  •  Administration:

    • Translating to/from English
    • Communication with local companies and Client
    • Preparing survey procedures and processing comments from Client.
    • Obtaining approvals / licenses (transmission frequencies, installations, ...)
    • Verification and quality analysis of topographic & hydrographic survey data of subcontractor. 



You can communicate fluently in both English and Mandarin.

You are a civil, Science (Geomatics/Geography/Geology) Engineer, Construction or Marine Ocean Science Engineer in Taiwan with a specialisation Geomatics (Cartography/geodetics).

You have no problems using software and equipment operating in the English language.

You have experience with CAD/GIS, GNSS Knowledge, Bathymetric and/or Topographic Surveying preferred. Ability to learn new software. Proficient in MS Outlook, Word and Excel.

Must possess the skills to work effectively and efficiently within a team and coordinate the work activities of a field crew.

Knowledge of basic surveying principles and the exercise of professional judgement

NOTE: This position will work primarily in our Taipei office assisting the Project Survey Manager, with sporadic periods to site until start of the operation March 2020.
