Maritime Advisor Towing, Weather and Routing

The QHSSE Department monitors the policy as regards Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environment. On civil as well as dredging, environmental and offshore projects all over the world, they support the people in charge with the implementation, the control and the improvement of the QHSSE Management System. Because our people are our greatest capital!

As a Maritime Advisor you will play an important role in the preparation of all towing operations of our non-propelled vessels around the world. You will be part of the team that gives advice on the technical aspects, but also on weather statistics and many other important items regarding the towing operations.

Your tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Continuously monitor and risk assess the progress of the tows.
  • Daily follow-up of the weather worldwide for the complete JDN fleet.
  • Acting as the point of contact for the Marine Warranty Surveyor.
  • Assist our Captains on their trip when necessary.
  • Prepare the ‘bad weather procedures’ for the projects worldwide.
  • Analyse and evaluate vessel voyages from a maritime point of view.

Profile

You like technical challenges and are interested in weather and other natural conditions. Experience on board of towing vessels is an advantage. You are a good and diplomatic communicator and you are willing to learn and become an expert. You have a pro-active approach and you think ahead. You are able to keep an overview and you can imagine all possible scenarios. You are good at project work and you work in a structured and methodical way. You are fluent in English and are willing to travel occasionally to visit our vessels, in Belgium and abroad.
